Marc Marquez faced a challenging session during FP1 of the British Grand Prix 2024 as he experienced a crash that highlighted the intense competition on the track. The session began with Maverick Vinales making a strong start, leading an Aprilia 1-2 ahead of Aleix Espargaro, with the two riders separated by just a fraction of a second.
As the session progressed, Francesco Bagnaia, the current series leader, moved into second place. Marquez, who had been gaining momentum throughout the session, found himself losing time when he got caught behind Pedro Acosta.
Despite this setback, Marquez improved his overall time, moving up to eighth place on the leaderboard. However, the competition was fierce, with Jorge Martin setting the fastest lap, just narrowly edging out Espargaro.
Marquez continued to run!
As Marquez continued to push, he closed in on Martin, eventually moving up to fifth place. However, the pressure mounted as Pedro Acosta crashed at turn six, and in a subsequent lap, Marquez also went down at turn 15. Fortunately, Marquez quickly got back on his feet, but the incident marked a dramatic moment in the session.
