The second Free Practice session (FP2) at the Italian Grand Prix took a dramatic turn when Kevin Magnussen's Haas collided with the barriers at the iconic Monza circuit. The incident occurred at the second Lesmo, a challenging right-hand corner that has seen its fair share of action over the years.
Magnussen lost control of his car, the rear snapping away as he turned in, sending him straight off the track and into the gravel before slamming into the advertising boards. The crash was severe enough to bring out the red flag, effectively suspending the session while the track was cleared.

Despite the intensity of the impact, Magnussen quickly reassured his team and fans by reporting that he was "OK" over the team radio. The Danish driver, however, will likely be feeling the effects of the incident as the Haas team assesses the damage to his car and prepares for the rest of the weekend.
Two crashes halted FP1!
This wasn't the first incident of the day at Monza. The morning's FP1 session also saw its share of drama, with rookie Franco Colapinto narrowly avoiding disaster at the Parabolica corner. The Williams debutant locked up and skidded through the gravel, managing to escape unscathed and return to the pits.
Meanwhile, Mercedes' new prodigy Kimi Antonelli had a less fortunate outing, crashing at the same corner. Antonelli lost control of his car while on a fast lap, spinning off and hitting the tyre barriers. Though the young driver was unharmed, the crash brought an early end to his session, leaving Mercedes with repair work to do before FP2.
The FP2 crash has once again highlighted the unforgiving nature of the Monza circuit, where even the smallest mistake can have significant consequences. With only a short time left before qualifying, teams will be working frantically to ensure their cars are in top shape. As for Magnussen, his focus will now shift to bouncing back from this setback and regaining his momentum as the weekend progresses.
