The FIA Awards event for the 2024 season was held in Kigali, Rwanda. The winners and runners of this year's FIA tournaments were present and awards were given in all categories like F1, NASCAR, LeMans and many more. Formula 1 is also an FIA tournament and this year's winners Max verstappen, and McLaren collected awards for their achievements.
Lando Norris the 2024 season driver's championship runner-up and McLaren driver was also present during the event. He and his teammate Oscar Piastri revealed the constructors title for McLaren which they won after 26 years. The British driver was the sole competitor against Max Verstappen and they both did some hard racing this season.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull were quicker initially and won many races in the first half of the season. The Second half of the season was a big turning point as the McLaren team came with some new upgrades which changed the course of the reason. Verstappen went from winning every race to winless for 10 straight races. Until the Brazilian Grand prix Lando was dominating the Red Bull machine. Verstappen showed some incredile display in a rain-hit Interlagos circuit, won the race and moved an inch closer to his 4th title.
He finally won his title in the Las Vegas GP by finishing fourth ahead of Lando. Even after losing the drivers title the British driver never gave up as he helped his team McLaren win the constructors title this year against Ferrari. The title decider went to the Abu Dhabi Grand prix where the winner gets the championship. Lando was the pole sitter and won the race comfortably against Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz in P2 and Charles Leclerc in P3. After the race, Norris said “Next year will be mine too” indicating his driver's championship win.

Norris acknowledges Verstappen
After all the battles on track, Lando came to the event with an open heart and congratulated Max verstappen for winning. He also acknowledged the Dutchman for the first time this year. Lando was asked about coming very close to winning the world title. Norris Said “I was never close enough to Max. I think if anyone thought if I was gonna get it, it was a little bit far-fetched. But, at the same time, we tried for as long as possible.” But he is very confident of challenging Max Verstappen and winning the title next year for McLaren.
