Argentine racing sensation Franco Colapinto had an unforgettable weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marked by a rollercoaster of emotions that culminated in an emotional celebration with his mother on the grid. Notably, Colapinto's weekend began on a tough note as he suffered a crash during FP1, a setback that could have dampened his spirits ahead of qualifying. 

However, the Williams driver made an extraordinary recovery, bouncing back from the incident to deliver one of his most impressive performances to date. Colapinto, determined to make amends, pushed his car to the limit in qualifying and ultimately secured a commendable P9 finish, placing him among the top performers at the event.

Williams’ Franco Colapinto joined Formula 1 analyst Karun Chandhok to reflect on his remarkable qualifying lap, one that not only impressed the paddock but also demonstrated his potential as a rising star in the sport. The young driver spoke about how challenging it was to maintain focus and composure after the early crash but credited his team and family for providing the support he needed to perform under pressure.

Charles Leclerc gets pole position! 

Colapinto’s P9 finish came amidst a competitive qualifying session dominated by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who secured his fourth consecutive pole position in Baku with a lap three-tenths faster than his nearest competitors. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri delivered a surprise by taking P2, while Carlos Sainz finished in third, rounding out the top three. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had an uncharacteristic day, finishing sixth behind his teammate Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ George Russell.

The most heartwarming moment of Colapinto’s weekend came immediately after qualifying, as he was seen celebrating with his mother on the grid, visibly emotional. The bond between mother and son was palpable, as Colapinto's triumph felt like a victory not just for him, but for his family as well.
