On day two of Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2024 at Imola circuit Aston Martin rider Fernando Alonso crashed out of the Free Practice Session 3. Despite being the most experienced on the track Alonso struck into the wall pulling out the second red flag of this weekend.

With this crash, The Aston Martin garage won't have time for a lunch break. The car exhibited understeer as Fernando Alonso approached Rivazza at Turn 18. When he veered wide and grazed the curve, it was too late to avoid the inevitable, and the Spaniard ended up reversing into the barriers.

However, after the incident, Alonso was quick to inform his team that he was okay. Despite that, his car was looking a lot of affected and it might be a headache for Aston Martin to make it available for the Qualification round. Notably, they have less than three hours for the qualification round.

Sergio Perez hits the wall too!

Ahead of final flying laps Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez crashed out in the barriers from the nose of the car. This happened after his steering got locked just at turn 15. As Sergio Perez ascends the hill toward the chicane, his fortunes take a turn for the worse. Regrettably, the Mexican driver hits a substantial section of the kerb, resulting in his Red Bull careening across the gravel and ultimately coming to a halt, nose-first, against the barriers.

Can Max Verstappen make a comeback in FP3?

Charles Leclerc dominated Friday's sessions at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, securing the top spot in both first and second practice, signalling a dream start for the Ferrari team. However, it was a starkly different story for Max Verstappen and Red Bull, who encountered a forgettable Friday plagued by performance issues with the RB20

Verstappen's dissatisfaction with the car's performance loomed large, highlighting the significance of the upcoming third practice session to gauge the effectiveness of overnight adjustments made by the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

Should the reigning world champion continue to face challenges, it could pave the way for Ferrari, McLaren, and potentially even Mercedes to capitalize on the opportunity presented by Red Bull's struggles. Notably, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell looked very much comfortable in their car on Friday.
