Carlos Sainz delivered a standout performance at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, highlighted by a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. The intense duel showcased Sainz's skill and determination, as he claimed P7 from Gasly after a fierce three-lap fight, culminating in a decisive move at the banking turn.

Gasly, who had shown impressive pace at the start of the race, managed to overtake both Aston Martin early on, climbing up the order with some bold manoeuvres. However, Sainz, determined to recover from a disappointing qualifying session, was not one to back down. The battle between the two drivers became one of the race's most exciting moments, as they engaged in a high-speed chess match, trading positions and pushing their cars to the limit.

Here is the video:

Sainz’s persistence paid off after three laps when he finally edged past Gasly at the banking turn, securing his position and beginning his charge forward. This overtake was a key moment in Sainz’s race, setting the tone for what would be a strong finish in fifth place, just behind his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, who secured third.

Reflecting on the race, Carlos Sainz expressed confidence in Ferrari’s ability to compete for podiums moving forward, though he acknowledged the challenge posed by McLaren. “McLaren will be the only permanent feature in the battle for wins,” Sainz noted.

The weekend marked a significant moment for McLaren, who introduced their most substantial update package since Miami. The upgrades paid off, with Norris leading the race with remarkable ease, particularly after overtaking Max Verstappen. While the margins were tight behind Norris, Ferrari’s unexpected pace allowed them to stay competitive, maintaining a close fight with Red Bull.

The battle for the remaining top-six positions saw Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes all vying for crucial points. Sainz and Leclerc’s efforts were instrumental in Ferrari’s solid points haul, positioning the team well ahead of their next major upgrade package at Monza.
