The Azerbaijan Grand Prix delivered one of the most thrilling finales of the 2024 Formula 1 season, packed with drama, breathtaking overtakes, and a massive crash that shook up the standings. The streets of Baku witnessed a race that will go down in history, with Oscar Piastri securing a well-deserved victory while chaos unfolded behind him.

The real drama struck on Lap 50, as Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez engaged in a fierce battle for third place. Sainz had edged ahead at Turn 1, but as Perez attempted to reclaim the position after Turn 2, disaster struck. The two collided, causing both drivers to crash out of the race in a heart-stopping moment.

Here is the video:

Perez was furious over the incident, exclaiming over the radio, "What the f***! Is he crazy?!" The collision not only cost both drivers a potential podium finish but also left the door wide open for others to capitalize.

Meanwhile, on Lap 49 when Lando Norris executed a brilliant overtake on reigning world champion Max Verstappen. Despite starting 15th on the grid, Norris showcased blistering pace down the main straight, securing sixth place from his title rival. In a stunning display, Norris also recorded the fastest lap of the race, cutting down Verstappen's championship lead and cementing his status as one of the top contenders this season.

Oscar Piastri won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix!

Just one lap later, all eyes shifted to Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver, who had been leading comfortably, stretched his advantage to 3.6 seconds, looking poised for his second Formula 1 career victory. Piastri's flawless drive from the front ensured that he avoided the chaos brewing just behind him.

Piastri cruised to victory amid the chaos, claiming what many are calling the "drive of the year" with his flawless performance in Baku. Behind him, Charles Leclerc seized second place, while George Russell capitalized on the late crash to secure a surprise podium finish in third.

Norris finished fourth, followed by Verstappen in fifth, and Fernando Alonso in sixth. Rounding out the top ten were Alex Albon, Franco Colapinto, Lewis Hamilton, and Ollie Bearman, who grabbed the final point for Haas. Notably, Colapinto earned his first-ever Formula 1 points, while Bearman added to Haas’ tally for the season.
