Miami GP 2024: Max Verstappen names record breaking sixth pole of the season, Ferrari also shines

Behind Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz completed the top three, highlighting Ferrari's strong performance. Sergio Perez and Lando Norris secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.

After the excitement of the sprint race settled, all eyes shifted to qualifying for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen being the top contender for the pole position shone. The reigning World Champion showcased his dominance by leading in free practice, securing the sprint race pole, and clinching a straightforward victory in the action-packed sprint. 

Verstappen continued his strong performance in Qualification 1, leading the pack for Red Bull. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso narrowly advanced, claiming 15th place by a mere 0.010 seconds. However, notable drivers such as Bottas, Sargeant, Ricciardo, Magnussen, and Zhou faced elimination, finishing between 16th and 20th positions. 

In Qualification 2, Charles Leclerc dominated, securing the top spot. However, the session saw notable eliminations, including Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Alexander Albon, and Fernando Alonso. Nico Hulkenberg narrowly made it through in 10th place. 

Leclerc's commanding performance showcased Ferrari's strength. On the other hand, some quick turnarounds from Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen completed the top three for the third qualification round.  

Mercedes continues to fail! 

In Qualifying 3, Max Verstappen continued his dominant streak, securing his seventh consecutive pole position. This achievement also marks the first time since 1993 that a driver has claimed the pole in the opening six races of a season. 

Behind Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz completed the top three, highlighting Ferrari's strong performance. Sergio Perez and Lando Norris secured fourth and fifth positions respectively, showcasing their competitive edge. 

Oscar Piastri, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton followed closely in sixth, seventh, and eighth places. Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda rounded off the top ten, setting the stage for an exciting race day with a diverse mix of talent at the front of the grid.
