Formula 1 World champion and one of the all-time greats Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his life since childhood. He said he has been battling depression since he was 13 years old and now he wants to see a therapist for a cure.

Hamilton recently had won the British Grand Prix after a long 945-day gap. After winning the race, Lewis Hamilton was seen crying and hugging his father which showed how big a win is means for the champion. The pressure of being at the top of the sport for so many years is the cause for those tears.

In a recent interview, Lewis Hamilton opened up about his struggles and depression during his childhood days. He said, at that time, he had no one to talk to about it. The main issue he had during his childhood were bullying in school and racism due to his mixed heritage. Lewis Hamilton's father is a Grenadian and his mother was a white British woman.

Hamilton said, ‘My dad was just said, “keep your head down, hold it on, don't say anything, just beat them on the track, that's all you can do.”’ Hamilton’s father was his manager until 2010 when he sacked him to find his own mistakes by himself.

Lewis was often the first to comment when there was racism and bullying anywhere in the world or around him. He was also at the front of the Paddock during the Black Lives Matter Movement in 2019. Hamilton wore a black race suit and drove a Black Mercedes which were traditionally silver in color.

The 7-time world champion was top of his game until 2021. In the final race at Abu Dhabi race director Michael gave a controversial call to allow all lapped cars to unlap themselves in the safety car period. This allowed Max Verstappen close to hitting distance.

The two were in the same points and in the final lap, Max overtook Lewis and became the champion. Lewis Hamilton lost his chance to become the eight-time world champion. This caused severe depression and he suffered since that day. Now the 7 time champion will be moving to Ferrari next year.
