Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton found himself under medical attention after enduring what team officials described as "borderline heatstroke" following the demanding Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday night. Along with his teammate George Russell, Hamilton skipped the usual post-race media interviews, leaving fans and reporters questioning his condition.

Mercedes later clarified that both drivers had been excused from the media session after suffering from the extreme heat and humidity that Marina Bay's night race is infamous for. A team statement confirmed: “Unfortunately neither George nor Lewis will be attending the media pen this evening as they recover from the exertions of this evening’s race.”

Hamilton Battles Illness in Grueling Conditions

The 62-lap race, notorious for its punishing conditions, pushed Hamilton to his limits, and he was visibly unwell after crossing the finish line. Despite starting from third on the grid, he ended the race in sixth position. George Russell, meanwhile, started behind his teammate but managed a stronger fourth-place finish after a smart strategy kept him ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff explained the drivers' struggles with the heat, saying, "They did not feel well, borderline heatstroke or something like that, but they have had water." Wolff emphasized that neither driver would have been able to complete their media duties, explaining that doctors were with them immediately after the race.

Hamilton’s discomfort may have been compounded by ongoing issues with his car's seat overheating, a problem both Mercedes drivers have raised throughout the season. The combination of the sweltering heat, humid conditions, and the physical toll of driving on the unforgiving Marina Bay Circuit led to Hamilton’s exhaustion.

Hamilton's illness followed a frustrating evening for the seven-time world champion. He openly expressed his dissatisfaction with Mercedes' race strategy during the event. While he couldn't attend the media pen, Hamilton shared his thoughts through a written statement issued by the team. “It is hard to describe the range of emotions you feel when we have a difficult race like that," Hamilton said.
