McLaren driver Lando Norris secured pole position at the Dutch Grand Prix with a stunning lap of 1:09.673, outpacing Max Verstappen by 0.356 seconds. The Red Bull driver tried to make things interesting but he was outpaced by the McLaren.
Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri claimed third, 0.499 seconds behind his McLaren teammate, while George Russell and Sergio Perez rounded out the top five. The rest of the top ten saw Charles Leclerc in sixth, followed by Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Lance Stroll, and Pierre Gasly. Norris' impressive performance sets him up as a strong contender for the race at Zandvoort.
Daniel Ricciardo fails in Q1
In a thrilling Q1 session at the Dutch Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated by a narrow 0.1 seconds, finishing 16th, just behind Nico Hulkenberg. Ricciardo, alongside Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, and Logan Sargeant, failed to progress to Q2.
The track conditions rapidly improved towards the end, with Sergio Perez setting the fastest time, followed by George Russell and Carlos Sainz. Ricciardo’s early exit was a surprise, while Yuki Tsunoda narrowly advanced to Q2.
Lewis Hamilton’s shocking exit in Q2
In a surprising turn, Lewis Hamilton was knocked out in Q2, securing only the 12th-fastest time after losing three-tenths in the first sector. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also failed to advance, finishing 11th. The bottom five in Q2 included Sainz, Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda, Nico Hulkenberg, and Kevin Magnussen. Meanwhile, Alex Albon impressed with a seventh-place finish, edging out Max Verstappen, who managed eighth.
