The World title in Malaysia

Martin now has a 17-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team. If he extends his championship lead to over 38 points this weekend he will be crowned the new MotoGP world champion this weekend. He cannot win the championship by winning the sprint race. But if he gets an extra 12 points then he can put himself into the title contention for the race.

If he wins both Sprint and Race he will get 37 points and move to 490 points. At the same time if Bagnaia finished fifth or below Martin will become the world champion for the 2024 season. If the Prima Pramac Racing team rider finishes 2nd in Sprint and Grand Prix then he needs Bagnaia to finish ninth or below. If he finishes 3rd he needs his rival to finish outside the points table in Sprint and P14 in Grand Prix. If Bagnaia wins the Spirnt race then Martin needs to win the Grand Prix with Martin finishing 15 or lower. This will help Martin get the 38-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia and win his first-world title.

Jorge Martin and Francesco Bganaia are the only riders this 2024 MotoGP season to have title opportunity. The Ducati Team is looking at multiple strategy options to defend the world championship. Francesco Bagnaia is the two-time world champion with 2023 and 2022 titles. If he defeats Jorge Martin this year then he will become the three-time world champion. The Malaysian Grand Prix will start on (1/11/2024) at 8:15 AM Friday. The MotoGP race can be watched on Jio Cinema App.
