F1 team's strengths and weaknesses

To have a successful season each team should have the best drivers, cars, engineers, mechanics, pit crew, strategists and team leads. Everyone should work together and play the team game. Let's analyse the 2025 F1 teams with their strengths and weaknesses.

10. Sauber F1

Last year the Swiss team finished at the bottom. Their drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu struggled throughout the season and brought just 4 points. The team had no answers for them and showed no sign of improvement. This year they will have new drivers Nico Hulkenberg and rookie Gabriel Bortoleto who are in good form.

Strengths: The team is perfectly mixed with experience and young talent. The Audi programme looks exciting and resourceful.

Weakness: Lack of improvement and character missing inside the team.

9. Williams Racing

The team looked strong in the middle of the season but they suffered heavy financial loss as their drivers crashed back to back costing the team millions of dollars that could have been used for the car development. The good thing is they will now have experienced drivers like Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.

Strengths: Signing Carlos Sainz straight from Ferrari is a plus. He could give them more insights about the car and help them improve.

Weakness: Despite having Experienced James Vowels as Team principal the team always looks confused.

8. RB Bulls

The sister team of Red Bull didn't improve much last year as expected. But this year Isack Hadjar and Yuki Tsunoda as their drivers make a good pair and could end their mid-field vows. Using Red Bull’s Milton Keynes facility is an advantage as the team could learn more from their senior team.

Strengths: Consistent performers like Yuki Tsunoda and Isack Hadjar are game-changers and big-point scorers.

Weakness: Strategy for races and qualifying is the big minus for the team as it ruins their chances.

7. Haas F1

The team emerged from the ashes last year under the new team principal Ayao Komatsu and finished seventh in the points table. They also invested in experience and new talent this year. Toyota Gazoo's racing partnership could also give them an edge this season in the midfield.

Strengths: Team structure and culture are key for any team's success and the Haas F1 team has ticked all the boxes.

Weakness: The team lacks useful resources and Personnel which is a big drawback. Working on a tight budget in F1 is very hard.

6. Alpine

The Brazilian Grand prix last year changed the game for Alpine as they finished on a double podium and scored the highest number of points in a single race. But apart from Pierre Gasly, there is nothing much to celebrate.

Strengths: Big team with a high number of resources and investments.

Weakness: The engine is weak compared with other teams on the grid.

5. Aston Martin

Finishing fifth after struggling with straight-line speed was a miracle. Fernando Alonso is the lone warrior for them scoring most of the points.

Strengths: Fernando Alonso and Adrian Newey in the same team could bring something new and useful.

Weakness: Chassis, Aero and Stroll's poor form are letting them down and stopping them from going big.

4. Mercedes

The F1 Giant is slowly recovering from the 2021 season loss. It's clearly visible in their race results last year. This season Mercedes is betting on two young drivers who are ready to fire and challenge for the championship.

Strengths: George Russell is a promising star and future world champion. The Power unit is also showing signs of improvement.

Weakness: The car’s balance is making it hard for the drivers to drive and this has something to do with their chassis design.

3. Red Bull

The team after losing their form mid-way found out some of the issues in their car and recovered from that. Max Verstappen as their driver is the ultimate advantage Red Bull has over other teams.

Strengths: Having Max Verstappen as a team driver could make a huge difference even in victory-impossible races.

Weakness: Relying more on Verstappen rather than improving the car backfired last year.

2. Ferrari

The old horse has started to run again with full force and speed. Signing Lewis Hamilton has brought new interests and will definitely help the team win championships.

Strengths: Having the strongest driver pair on the grid is the biggest advantage for the team.

Weakness: Two strong drivers having a strong winning mentality will be hard to control. They could go rogue and collapse the team structure.

1.McLaren

Having the fastest car on the grid with two young talented drivers makes them a force to reckon with. They are also very consistent and calm under pressure making them even more powerful. The team is also very balanced and everything works well.

Strengths: Consistency and decision-making are the biggest strengths of the team.

Weakness: Both drivers are quick and want to win the title so making the right strategy and pit calls is difficult. We expect many intrateam battles this year between Lando and Oscar.
