From IPL to F1: Gujarat Titans player becomes Haas mechanic at the Qatar GP

Afghanistan cricketer and Gujarat Titan team vice-captain was spotted during the Qatar Grand prix weekend with the American Formula 1 team Haas F1.

Gujarat Titans vice-captain and Afghanistan team captain Rashid Khan is one of the most popular cricketers in the world. He is the first-ever Afghanistan captain to defeat Australia in a World Cup match. He is also one of the best spinners in cricket and also the highest-paid Afghanistan cricketer.

Rashid Khan is also a big Formula 1 fan and was recently spotted with the American Formula 1 team Haas F1 during the Qatar Grand Prix. The Middle Eastern country is the middle ground for many Western countries. The race in Qatar had many popular celebrities like Tennis Legened Novak Djokovic, UFC fighting champion and Legend Kabib Nurmagomedov.

The Afghanistan Spinner was invited to join the Haas Formula 1 team for the Qatar Grand Prix. He is one of the ambassadors for  Moneygram, the Prime Sponsor of the Haas F1 team. So he was present there during the Qatar Grand Prix as part of his media duties.

Pitch to the Pits

Rashid Khan was also very curious to try some Formula 1 techniques and help the American team with their race preparation. Pit stops are the most important part of Formula 1 races. The fastest cars in the world need tyre changes in the middle of the race and it should also be done very quickly. 

The Gujarat Titans VC wanted to try it out himself along with the tyre mechanics and changed one of the tyres himself. The video was shared by the Haas F1 team quoted as, “From Pitch Perfect to Pit Perfect. Giving Rashid Khan a taste of pit stop practice with the team.” 

They also posted another picture on Twitter of Rashid Khan standing with the Haas F1 drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen. He also got T-shirts from the drivers and exchanged the Afghanistan Cricket jersey with them. Rashid Khan also gave a cricket bat to Haas F1 team Principal Ayao Komatsu.

Haas F1 team is currently battling against Alpine for 6th place in the constructor's title, they have a good chance in Abu Dhabi as both their drivers were very experienced in the circuit compared with Alpine drivers. Haas will have Ocon and Bearman as the two new drivers for next year as Magnussen and Hulkenberg will be out of the team.
