Red Bull had a good lead over other teams in May 2024 when they won the Imola Grand Prix. Thanks to a great race from Max Verstappen and handy points from Sergio Perez. Since then, it seems like the prestigious engine of the Red Bull has deteriorated. The speed of the engine is under question following the failure of the team in the Italian Grand Prix.

Both Max and Sergio failed to have a podium finish in Italy along with Lewis Hamilton. It was Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, and Lando Norris who finished on the podium in the latest race. Max was expected to have a podium finish. In the Dutch Grand Prix, he finished second and bagged valuable points for his side. His race in Italy was an eye-opener for Red Bull.

The top driver managed to finish sixth in the race and Red Bull fell to the fourth spot. There could be a big reason behind the massive fall. The departure of Adrian Newey might be a big factor in the team's fall. Additionally, there was a controversy surrounding the new boss Christian Horner. Since June 23 in Barcelona, Max has failed to win a race.

Potential problems with Red Bull

One cannot claim the change in coaching to be the only reason behind Red Bull's fall. Rather, one must credit McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari for picking up the pace. It seems like Red Bull reached their ultimate level of development for this season. As they had a massive upgrade in May, there seems to be a reduction in their pace since Imola.

The maximum capability of RB20 seems to be achieved by the team. Max has blamed the balance and understeer of his car. He has also claimed that preparing tyres and optimizing temperature has been an issue as well. Perez claimed RB20 as a steering boat. Due to the peculiar positions, Sergio tried to stay in line with Max in the previous races. Red Bull would be hoping to perform better in the upcoming days.
