Formula 1 is heading into a new era where cars will be different from what we see today. New 50/50 Power units
The hybrid units used will have less power when compared to this year's cars. The power of the engine will be down from 550Kw to 400 kW. At the same time, the battery unit power will increase from 120KW to 300 KW, which is a 300% rise in Electric power.
Record number of Engine suppliers
The new power units proposed by Formula 1 were duly accepted by the existing Formula 1 engine suppliers like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Honda. There will also be new suppliers coming to Formula 1 from 2026 with the likes of Ford and Audi.
Lighter cars, More speed

Formula 1 cars will be a lot lighter when compared with the current season. The weight of the 2026 car will be reduced to 768 Kg which is 30 kg lighter than the current 2022 regulation F1 cars. FIA also said that the downforce will be reduced by 30% and drag by 55%. Teams can also use battery power to overtake when 1 second behind a car.
Fresh Aerodynamics in Cars
The Aero regulations will be switchable from the 2026 season. Teams can either go for More fuel consumption or maximum corner performance. The Front and the rear wings will be Movable which helps in great cornering speeds, Lower drag and more straight-line speed.

More safety Introduced
The F1 cars will have a two-nose design to deflect the impact force during any collision which could cause detachment risks. There is also protection for fuel cells around the driver area.
Sustainable fuel for the first time
All cars will run on fully sustainable fuels that don't affect the environment. It is a big step taken by Formula 1 to achieve its goal of Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It will be a 50% electrical and 50% thermal car.
