The Formula 1 2025 Spanish Grand Prix qualifying has been completed with Oscar Piastri leading the table with the fastest lap time. The british driver set the fastest lap time in the final session, and no driver has been able to beat his lap time. His rivals, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, tried their best, but could only manage P2 and P3.
The Barcelona track is one Formula 1 track where the car needs to be perfectly balanced to get the best out of it. McLaren, having the best car on the grid, showed great pace with Norris and Piastri leading the table all weekend. The Australian driver is clearly coming for the 2025 world title.
Many drivers faced understeer issues with the track having a mix of both low-speed and high-speed corners. As usual, Red Bull driver Max verstappen fought alone against the two McLarens as his teammate Yuki Tsunoda was out in Q1.
Another shock was Carlos Sainz’s exit in the first session, as the home hero was very slow compared to his teammate Alex Albon, who managed to enter the second session. The two Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, gave their best in the final session and finished on P4 and P6.
The biggest surprise was Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc’s pace as he finished in P7 behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton in P5. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and VCARB’s Isack Hadjar once again impressed with a Q3 finish in Barcelona. Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso sits in the final spot of the points table.
Barcelona track is not a race-friendly track, as the driver who finishes on the pole wins the race. And in the last decade, Max verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are the only two winners on this track. For 2025, McLaren is set to rewrite history with either Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris on the front row.
