The upcoming round of the Formula 1 season in Barcelona will witness the last race of local boy Carlos Sainz in a Ferrari car. The Spanish driver has been replaced by Lewis Hamilton in the squad for the 2025 season making him a free agent. Despite being one of the best drivers on the track Sainz is yet to find a seat for the upcoming season.

However, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has revealed that he is expecting an announcement regarding Sainz’s future at his home track in Barcelona. He also revealed that Sainz has signed a contract with Williams and it will be announced this week.

"If the rumours are to be believed, Sainz has signed with Williams and that will be announced this week. Sainz at Williams may sound strange at first, but the team has big goals and ambitious investors. And to be honest, it was the best option for him," former F1 driver Schumacher told Sky Deutschland.

Carlos Sainz reveals how he felt when Hamilton replaced him

Amid all this speculation Carlos Sainz is in Barcelona preparing for his upcoming race with Ferrari. However, ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix Sainz spoke to a local media house and revealed how he felt when Lewis Hamilton replaced him in the squad.

"You don’t take it well," said Sainz. "No one likes being left behind, no? I had very good years at Ferrari, I started the year very well, but a seven-time world champion wanted to come and they made room for him. But I also see it as an opportunity for the future, because I still want to be world champion”, he further added.

"All the teams that have not signed their drivers at the moment have offered me a contract and I can sign with them tomorrow. But I’m going to take it a little calmly, even if I’m going to decide soon”, says Carlos Sainz.
