Outgoing Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has confirmed that a decision regarding his future in the sport will "be taken very soon." Despite ongoing speculation, Sainz maintains that he has yet to make a definitive choice about his next team.

With his departure from Ferrari set in motion by Lewis Hamilton's move to the Scuderia announced in February, Sainz has taken a measured approach in considering his options for the 2025 season. His decision-making process has been thorough, although this careful consideration has narrowed his potential opportunities.

Initially, top-tier teams such as Audi, Red Bull, and Mercedes were rumoured to be vying for Sainz's services. However, now Williams has emerged as a strong contender. There have been whispers of a deal already being in place with Williams, but Sainz has refuted these claims, emphasizing the need for a conclusive decision soon.

"The latest is that a decision will be taken very soon. I don't want to wait any longer. I think it's getting to a point where it's taking space out of my head for quite a few weeks now and months, and I think it's time to make a decision, and the decision will be taken soon - so hopefully we will have things to talk about”, Sainz told media.

“I'm still not sure”, says Carlos Sainz

As he prepares for the Spanish Grand Prix, Sainz admitted that his return home has not provided him with any additional clarity regarding his future team. When asked if he had a clearer idea of his next move, he responded, "No. That's the thing, I'm still not sure one way or another."

Sainz confirmed that he is still weighing multiple options, hinting that his decision involves more than just a straightforward choice between Williams and Audi. "It's still something that I'm discussing with my team and brainstorming, and I need a couple of days back at home," he explained.

"Before the Spanish Grand Prix, I've been at home but you don't have the head in the future, you the head in the Spanish Grand Prix - it has been a very hectic couple of weeks after Canada for me, so I haven't had time to sit down and take a decision, and this is what I will target in the next few weeks."
