Pramac’s Jorge Martin has been phenomenal in the ongoing season with some iconic wins in Moto GP. He is leading the charges in the championship with a gap of 18 -points after the first two rounds of the season. With his victory at the Portuguese Grand Prix last month, he continues to hold the top position.

With some amazing performances in the season, Martin is set to pose a great threat to Marc Marquez. Marquez who is very much comfortable at the American Grand Prix is likely to face a lot of trouble in the third round.

Speaking about his performance at Portuguese GP he spoke about Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini. “For sure, when they were three, two-tenths [behind] it wasn’t easy,” he said when speaking about Portuguese GP rivals.

“But when I got that gap to seven-tenths, then I said ‘Ok, now it’s time to keep this gap [stable]’. I remember Indonesia, and I thought it was the same winning with eight-tenths as with three seconds. Today it was enough. If they caught me one-tenth, I would push one-tenth. I had that margin to push a little bit more. I’m super happy because I think it’s a super mature one”, he further added.

How Martin is gaining momentum?

With victory and third in the sprint of Portugal and sprint win and third in the GP in Qatar Martin continues his dominance with 60 points. After two rounds last year, Martin had accumulated only 22 points, partly due to his incident with Marc Marquez during the Portuguese GP.

However, there was no resurgence in Argentina as he finished eighth in the sprint and fifth in the GP after securing second place in the sprint in Portugal. Despite being hailed as the sprint format champion of 2023, clinching victory in nine sprints, Martin believes that the GP24 performs more effectively in longer distance races rather than in the shorter Saturday contests.
