In a shock for the CSK fans and ardent MS Dhoni lovers, the former legendary CSK skipper and the veteran wicketkeeper-batter got dismissed on a golden duck for the first time in the ongoing IPL 2024. Dhoni was trapped in a ‘clean bowled’ by PBKS pacer Harshal Patel in the ongoing game between CSK and PBKS.

Earlier in the tournament, Dhoni was dismissed only one time in the entire so far in the tournament, which was a ‘run-out’ in the last game.

Speaking of the action of the match, PBKS won the toss and asked the visitors CSK to bat first; batting first, CSK posted a total of 167 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja with the leading run-scorer with 43 runs off just 26 balls, with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Besides him, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and number 3 batter Daryl Mitchell also scored 32 and 30 runs, respectively.

Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel scalped 3 wickets each for PBKS in the first innings, alongside two wickets picked by Arshdeep Singh. Sam Curran also picked one wicket for his side in the first innings.

CSK looking in control in the second innings

While chasing the target, PBKS have scored 31 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 5 overs at the time of filling this copy. Star CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande has scalped 2 wickets so far his side in the second innings.

Notably, CSK are currently in the 5th spot of the points table of the tournament and the ongoing clash against is an all-important and must-win game for them to keep their hopes in contention for the playoff stage of the tournament.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings are also on the verge of exit from the tournament as they are in the 8th spot with 4 wins in 10 matches, including 6 defeats.
