Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced each other in Dharamsala in a must-win game to keep their playoff qualification hopes alive. RCB's dominant performance in both departments helped them register a stunning 60-run win and be in the hunt for the knockout stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

RCB have claimed four wins on the trot and sit at the seventh position in the points table with 10 points. On the other hand, PBKS slipped to the ninth position with eight points, becoming the second team after Mumbai Indians to be officially eliminated from the 17th edition of the tournament.

Here are the top 5 worst performances from the PBKS vs RCB IPL 2024 clash:

Faf du Plessis – 9 runs off 7 balls

Coming into the match on the back of his fine form, the RCB skipper got off to a good start with a couple of boundaries in the first over. However, the Proteas opener could not find much resistance at the crease as debutant Vidhwath Kaverappa got rid of him in the third over.

The PBKS pacer was breathing fire with the new ball and almost got Virat Kohli in the first over. A dropped catch by Ashutosh Sharma made him wait for his maiden IPL wicket, but he got the desired start in the form of du Plessis.

Will Jacks – 12 runs off 7 balls

After losing the skipper’s wicket early on, the No.3 batter Will Jacks was expected to play a key role in boosting their scoring rate. Like du Plessis, Jacks got off to a good start with a six and a four but lost his wicket to Vidhwath Kaverappa in the fifth over.

The Englishman looked to sweep a lower delivery on the pads but failed to get it past short fine leg and Harshal Patel took a comfortable catch. The explosive batter looked dangerous but before he could do any serious damage, the young pacer sent him packing.

Sam Curran – 1/50 in 3 overs

Sam Curran would have entered the field with the intent of leading the team from the front in a must-win game. Virat Kohli and Will Jacks welcomed the PBKS with a 16-run over. His second over was also expensive, conceding 13 runs, but somehow managed to give a breakthrough with the wicket of dangerous Rajat Patidar.

Failing to keep his composure against a well-set Virat Kohli, Curran went for another big over in the latter stages of the first innings. He conceded 19 runs, including two back-to-back wides. The English all-rounder thus completed his half-century but is not in the expected department.

Liam Livingstone – 0/28 & 2-ball duck

Punjab brought back Liam Livingstone into their line-up at the cost of premier pacer Kagiso Rabada to bolster their batting unit. Chasing a big total, Rilee Rossouw and Jonny Bairstow set the stage for the rest of the batters to wreak havoc.

Livingstone was expected to showcase his power-hitting prowess, but he was dismissed for a two-ball duck. PBKS were well in the hunt in terms of net run rate, but the constant fall of wickets put them under pressure and eventually lost the game. Moreover, Livingstone also conceded 28 runs in his three overs without picking up a wicket.

Rahul Chahar – 0/47 in 3 overs

RCB batters have a record of struggling against spinners and for the same reason, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar was expected to play a key role for Punjab. However, the scenario was quite the opposite as he was smashed for 47 runs in his three overs without getting a wicket. At an economy of 15.70, Chahar was PBKS’ second-worst bowler tonight after captain Sam Curran.
