Chennai Super Kings took their revenge from Punjab Kings with a convincing win to get to 12 points from 11 games so far this season. Batting first Chennai Super Kings scored 167/9 from their 20 overs with Ravindra Jadeja leading the charge with 43.Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) and Daryl Mitchell (30) also played a key role with the bat for the defending Indian Premier League Champions. 

Needing 168 for a win, none of the Punjab Kings batters put up a fight. Barring Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh the rest of the batters failed to perform as the home team suffered a huge loss and were dealt a blow in their pursuit for the playoffs. 

5. Simarjeet Singh – 2/16 from 3 overs

Playing his first game of the season, Simarjeet Singh bowled with good pace and got two key wickets for his side. The 26-year-old pacer got the key wicket of Jitesh Sharma and then got the wicket of Harshal Patel who was looking dangerous. Singh was aggressive with the ball and even touched 90 Miles per Hour on occasions. 

4. Mitchell Santner -1/10 from 3 overs

The injury to Matheesha Pathirana and the non-availability for Mustafizur Rahman meant that Kiwi Mitchell Santner got his 1st game of the season. Shashank Singh who was batting well on 27 was snared by the wily spin of Santner at a crucial juncture in the game. Those three overs by Santner turned the game on its head and helped CSK make a roaring return. 

3. Rahul Chahar – 3/23 from four overs and 16 runs from 10 balls

For the second game in a row, Rahul Chahar tormented the Chennai Super Kings batters with his spin bowling, The 24-year-old dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube off successive balls before ending his day with the wicket of Mitchell Santner. Even with the bat Rahul Chahar tried to do his best scoring 16 runs before falling to Shardul Thakur. 

2. Harshal Patel – 3/24 from four overs and 12 runs from 13 balls

One of the costliest buys during the IPL 2024 auction, Harshal Patel showed why he is one of the most gifted T20 bowlers in India. The veteran pacer who has come back to form with the ball got the key wicket of Daryl Mitchell to start his day. Then Shardul Thakur and MS Dhoni were snapped by Patel to cap off an excellent day with the ball.

Chennai Super Kings veteran Ravindra Jadeja came to his teams’ rescue just when they needed him. The 35-year-old scored 43 runs from 26 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to help his team reach a good total. Then with the ball, Jadeja got the scalps of Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, and Ashutosh Sharma to make it a day to remember .
