'First OKC loss, prepare for the next 3' - Fans react as Dallas Mavericks defeat Oklahoma City Thunder

On Thursday night Dallas Mavericks defeated Oklahoma City Thunder by 119-110 at Paycom Centre. For Dallas Mavericks the series is now levelled by 1-1. Dallas Mavericks, previously supported by Luka Doncic and P.J. Washington both scored a playoff career-high 29 points. 

Dallas Mavericks scoring 119 points against Oklahoma City Thunder are the most points allowed by them in the ongoing postseason. Oklahoma City Thunder were in the top position in the Western Conference and defeated the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of playoffs.

For Oklahoma City Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got 33 points, eight assists and 12 rebounds and his teammate Jalen Williams scored 20 points but didn’t help the team win the match as they lost the game for the first time in the postseason and allowed the other team to score more than 100 points in six playoff games.

In the first three minutes of the first quarter of the match, Luka Doncic scored eight points and got the lead by 13-2. He scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the first quarter, but the Thunder had the play of the period. With 1.4 seconds remaining, Oklahoma City inbounded from behind Dallas' goal. Jaylin Williams tossed it long to Chet Holmgren, who received the ball while being guarded by two Mavericks in traffic, twisted around, and scored a deep 2-pointer to trim Dallas' lead to 36-32.

Dallas Mavericks got the lead in nine minutes

By the time of half-time, the Dallas Mavericks were in the lead by 68-62. After the second half for Oklahoma City Thunder Aaron Wiggins scoring from close in gave the team lead as they were 72-71 and were gaining advantage over them.

As Dallas Mavericks rested Luka Doncic they rallied a big part. As he returned to the court he lobbed a ball from Derrick Jones Jr. for a dunk putting the Mavericks ahead 99-85 late in the third quarter, and they led 99-89 heading into the fourth. Williams' thunderous two-handed putback slam reduced Dallas' advantage to 99-95, but the Mavericks rallied. Doncic took advantage of Dereck Lively II's and sank a three-pointer to put Dallas up 104-95 with nine minutes left.  The next game in the series will be played on Saturday in Dallas.
